An eight unit condo project was labelled as “just blatant capitalistic gentrification.” And the ridicule wasn’t just from one person. 6 individuals signed up to speak, but the loudest was Villa Park neighbor, Cathy Sandoval.

This type of housing is not stabilizing our neighborhood. It is continuing that legacy of redlining with disparities, impacting current residents by displacing them and reducing opportunities for affordable housing.

The Commission was put in a tough position when it was pointed out that the soon-to-be-approved West Area Plan calls for a diversity of housing types calling for “low-medium” housing up to 2.5 stories in this area.
